Highrise Portfolio Piece

This next image was taken from a project I have in my Senior Portfolio class. Still messing with rain effects; I think part of the problem with them before (see previous blog update) was that the angle was confusing.

Things I've learned:

1. Rain is fun to make, but tough to get right.
2. Neon lights + steam is awesome.

Rain Test and First Post

I figure this blog will be a good alternative source to Facebook for posting progress on my level designs. Here is the latest design I've been working on.

For the surface textures I came up with a nice algorithm of material expressions to replicate a water flowing down the side of the building. From there I was able to copy it to each unique texture, making the falling rain that much more believable.

Also, it might be hard to tell in the screenshot but the rain itself has a seperate distortion on it, bending the scenery a bit.
